6 weeks!

It was about 6:00 in the morning on Friday February 27, right after we just got back from the gym. That's the main reason my head is cut off...I looked horrible. But what we are mainly looking at here is my belly and Haley. Chad gets the camera out and what does Haley do? Walk right over and sit directly between me and the camera. She thinks every time the camera comes out, she is supposed to get her picture taken. What a crazy dog.

Here's what's going on at 6 weeks taken from, http://www.revolutionhealth.com.
"Growth is rapid this week. Just four weeks after conception, your baby is about 1/8 of an inch long. The neural tube along your baby's back is now closed, and your baby's heart is beating with a regular rhythm.

Basic facial features will begin to appear, including an opening for the mouth and passageways that will make up the inner ear. The digestive and respiratory systems begin to form as well.

Small blocks of tissue that will form your baby's connective tissue, ribs and muscles are developing along your baby's midline. Small buds will soon grow into arms and legs."

How exciting!!! :)

Telling the family...

It was a Wednesday night, February 25, 2009, right in the middle of a busy work week. We could not wait until the weekend to tell them and we wanted to tell them in person. So we made up this story about how Chad left his cell phone in Gibsonville and his supervisor was upset so we had to drive up there to get it.

First was the Apple house. We brought a Bojangles tailgate special over and when Chad walked in with the food everyone came into the Kitchen. Chad said, "Well...we didn't know what you wanted. We've got mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, chicken.....and Sarah has a baby in her belly!" They were all of course very excited and Becky got on the phone immediately.

Next was the Campbell house. We walked in and sat on the couch and chatted for a little while about nothing really. Then Chad started talking about his job and how he hasn't been very busy lately. So he was looking around on the internet and he found this great idea for Halloween costumes this year. He said, "We are going to be parents!". They were both very excited as well. Becky almost spit her food out!

Finally we stopped by Granny and PaPaw's house. We walked in and after Granny and Papaw both tried to feed us we said no and sat down to chat a bit. Chad started to ask Granny about how she was feeling and she said better. Chad asked if she was going to have her surgery in March and she said yes. Well then he asked if she thought she was going to be better by October, and she said yes and went on to talk about that a bit. Then Chad finally said, "Well we just wanted to make sure you'd be better by October because that's when Sarah is going to have the baby." Granny of course grinned from ear to ear and Papaw said, "What?" because he didn't hear what Chad said. haha. They were both very excited as well though.

Telling the husband...

Chad kept telling me I was pregnant. I did not think I was. So when I got home from work Tuesday February 24, 2009 I decided to take a home pregnancy test to prove him wrong...HA! I took the test then went and did a little laundry and a few other things (chad was not home from work yet)...I then came back into the bathroom to take a look at it and saw those two lines...I had to look at it about 6 times to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. I was so excited and wanted to call Chad right away but thought I better not. I placed the test on the kitchen counter and then sat down in the living room with the tv on and waited for him to come home. When he walked in the door I told him there was something on the counter in the kitchen. He immediately thought, "What did Haley get into now?"...well he walked over there and said, "What is that?! Holy Crap! You're kidding me!" and his eyes were about the size of a watermelon. He dropped his things and gave me a big hug. He was very excited and happy just as I was. It had finally happened. I took another test later that night which also turned out positive...and then we went to the doctor together the next morning and the doctor confirmed a due date of October 23, 2009.

In the Beginning...

We started trying around August of 2008. We wanted to surprise our family more than anything and so we kept it hush, hush. After 6 months of not being able to tell the family one of the most important decisions of our lives, we finally got a positive test!
