Last night ...

New Rooms for the Boys!

Soooooooooo we weren't planning on taking Liam out of his crib just yet but things sorta planned out that way this past weekend.  Landon has been getting up a lot at night...like 3-4 times.  Some of his excuses:
He wants a big hug.
He wants a big kiss.
He has to pee (which he can do by himself).
He's scared.

He told us that he would stay in his bed if someone was in there with him -- even if it was Liam.  Since we already had the bunk beds we thought we'd switch things around and see how they did.  I do have to admit I got tears in my eyes when we packed up Liam's crib...my baby is growing up!!

Landon loved the rooms and Liam seemed pretty excited too.  We made one room a playroom and the other one a sleeping room with books and a tv.  The changing table is still in the sleeping room for now but eventually that'll come out or become some type of storage.

So it took a while to get Liam to go down for his nap ... He cried some, he played some...finally he passed out and slept for a good 2-3 hours...

Then when bedtime rolled around it took a while to get them to go to sleep.  I kept going to check on them and once found them in the same bed together. 

Landon actually got up more than Liam but fell asleep faster after he finally laid down.  Landon probably fell asleep around 9:30.  However Mr. Liam stayed up and Chad said one time he went to check on him and he was playing with the diapers and baby powder...then the next time he went in there he had about 4-5 books out on his bed and was 'reading' through them.  He didn't cry, which I think is good...and eventually around 10:45 he fell asleep.  Every time I went in there to check on them Liam would be in a different position...once on the floor.  BUT - both boys slept through the night so I'd call that a successful first night!

 

CAKE!!

This is THE BEST chocolate cake I've ever tasted.  I'm still working on making it look good.  The first one wasn't even picture worthy AT ALL.  It fell completely apart but it still tasted awesome.  This is my second one and I'm gonna keep working on it.  The boys love the icing!

What I wore

I randomly take pictures of what I wear - mainly to text to my girlfriends.  Since I had quite a collection on my phone I thought I'd post them!

Maybe I can cook?

This past weekend we were 'daddyless' so I did more cooking and I'm not as bad at this thing as I thought!  I didn't try and go all crazy and cook hard stuff --- but the fact that the food was edible impressed me.  And I will probably make the taco soup again!   

Eagerly watching the bacon cook - I raised them right!

Baked Chicken Tenders - marinated them in eggs, milk, salt and pepper then covered them in bread crumbs, cheese and garlic salt.  Sprinkled with EVOO before baking.  Baked them in the oven at 400 for about 15-20 minutes.  Honey and mustard mixed together for dipping!

The boys had a good weekend...we went to a fun birthday party and just hung around the house.  Mawmaw and GG were (again) a big help and it was even their anniversary! 

Liam at 21 months.

Liam is 21 months old today! I'm keeping up the tradition of the monthly updates until he turns 2!  I did it for Landon and want to do it for Liam as well.  Liam is at the age Landon was when Liam was born which is so crazy to think about. Liam's starting to talk in more sentences now. The other day Landon was playing angry birds on the TV and Liam said, "shoot that bird!". Then we were outside with my mom and he looked over at her and said, "Walk with mawmaw!". He's repeating more words and it's finally getting a little easier to understand what he wants. He's still great at the gibberish though. He's wearing 2T clothes (pretty much almost the same size as Landon -- esp in summer clothes). He LOVES to go outside and go bye-bye. He will start crying because he wants to go so bad. Chad and I joke that he has a little Haley in him because anytime we start packing up to go anywhere he starts crying and grabbing his jacket and shoes like we're gonna leave him. Haley used to get so excited when we started packing to go places and so nervous we were going to leave her. He LOVES Landon and they really do play together so well. Don't get me wrong - they fight too - but so far I see a lot more playing and hugging than I do fighting. Landon has started to ask for Liam to go with him places like school and Granny's house. He also mentioned he wanted Liam to sleep with him in his room but we're going to hold off on that until Liam is practically climbing out of his crib since Liam does so well in there still. He will sleep generally from 7:30-7:30. It's great!

I took this yesterday when I was running...thinking of the people in Boston.  My prayers go out ... 

"There will be a day when I can no longer run.  Today will not be that day."

Pizzaaaaa

Chad's been out of town for work this past week and he'll be gone for most of next week too.  Luckily I have some pretty awesome help from the grandparents but I've still been having to do a lot more around the house (aka: cook more!).  Which we all know I don't do very often.  Chad is the main cook of the house...mainly because he's so dang good at it.  Last night I took the easy way out and fixed the boys some pizza.  Don't you know they ate it up like it was the best thing ever.  Of course when we try and fix them good healthy meals...they want nothing to do with that but bring out the pizza and it's chow time!

The boys are starting to do everything together.  It's getting harder and harder to get pictures of them by their selves!  Although, this first picture I made them stand together so I could show the matching PJs Granny bought them :)  --- I love Liam's expression - he's always watching Landon............

Sunshine and Food.

We had a relaxing weekend enjoying the nice weather and doing a little cooking/baking.

The boys are really getting into wanting to help in the kitchen.  They will go grab their stools and pull them right up next to the counter so they can help.

Albums ...and a little venting ...

I really cannot believe it's already April!  March flew by - time sure does need to slow down - I would love to soak up some more time with my boys.  It seems we are always on the go.  I'm working on trying to spend more time with them and less time worrying about cleaning the house and stupid things that can wait.  It's so hard working full time and being a mommy to two young boys.  Luckily I do have a husband that is a BIG help.  But it would be nice to have a little more time to spend with them and not feel like I need to fold the laundry or wash the dishes all at the same time.  I feel like evenings after work and on the weekends are all I have to get everything done at home --- be a mom, play with the boys, clean the house, be a loving wife --- keep up with this blog.  BUT I have decided I want to focus more being thankful for what I have and finding the positive in all situations.  I want to be less selfish, love more and worry less.  I hope by adopting this attitude I can be a better mom and wife.  I feel like I tend to focus too much on house work and not enough on good quality time with my boys.  I just want them to know how much I love them.  It makes me sad when Landon asks me not to go to work and stay home and play with him.  I would love to do that more than anything......everyday if I could.... 

Last night we enjoyed a nice evening as a family though --- we played outside and had a great dinner.  I look forward to more nights like that.......   

Easter

We had a nice Easter minus the fact that a few of us were sick.  Yes, again.  It will be nice when we can go for a whole week or two without one of us getting sick!  We still made the best of it though and enjoyed our time together.
